Expert craftsmanship, uncompromising quality and a genuine passion for the marine world.
Our Story
Trident Canvas is a specialist marine canvas and upholstery company based at Mercury Yacht Harbour on the River Hamble — right in the heart of one of the UK’s most active sailing communities.
Trident Canvas is led by Sean Foster, whose passion for the marine world started long before the Solent. Sean spent years working on boats in the UK’s inland waterways — manufacturing canvas covers for river craft, wide-beam barges and narrowboats — before a lifelong connection to the Hamble (sparked, of all things, by watching Howards’ Way as a teenager in the East Midlands) drew him to the coast. Today, Sean is based at Mercury Yacht Harbour, an active boat owner on the river, and a member of the RAF Yacht Club at Hamble.
Sean brings a dual background that’s rare in the marine canvas trade. With a BEng in Civil Engineering and an MSc in Project Management, he spent decades in engineering design using CAD and precision modelling tools. That technical discipline now drives every Trident Canvas project — combining the latest digital patterning and design techniques with traditional hands-on craftsmanship to deliver precision fitted marine canvas for your pride and joy.
Every project is personally managed from initial consultation through to final fitting, ensuring consistent quality and a product that fits your vessel perfectly.
